Juvederm Q & A
How does Juvederm work?
Juvederm uses hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring substance that helps skin look full and plump. As we age, the amount of hyaluronic acid in our skin decreases, and skin looks less firm and resilient. By replacing some of that hyaluronic acid, Juvederm helps skin look plumper right after treatment and continue to look younger and firmer over time.
What's the difference between Botox and Juvederm?
While both are applied through injections, Botox is used to treat dynamic wrinkles formed by facial motions like smiling and frowning. Juvederm is used to fill in deep lines so skin looks smoother and more refreshed. The two products are often used together to create an overall rejuvenated, more youthful appearance without the need for more extensive treatments.
What can Juvederm treat?
Juvederm is used to treat deeper folds and lines like the folds that appear from your nose to your mouth. As we age, these lines become deeper and more pronounced. By filling those lines, Juvederm reduces or eliminates the stubborn signs of aging that can make the face look older and more worn.
Am I a good candidate for Juvederm?
Juvederm is a great option for most people, but if you have significant allergic reactions or bleeding disorders, it may not be the best choice for you. Dr. Matt will be able to determine if Juvederm is a good option or if another product might be a better choice.
How long do the results last?
The better you treat your skin – protecting it from sun damage, for instance – the longer the results will last. Many patients report the results of their Juvederm treatment persist for about a year. Touch-up procedures that use less filler can be used to maintain results.
